A run again, finally

Wow it has almost been a month, shiiiiit. After my last run I got sick which took about 2 weeks to clear up, than there was rain, snow, and cold, sigh. I really want to get running. I ran 2k non stop and than had a couple of breaks during the last km. I had some trouble breathing and catching my breath, I think some of it is due to cold air. My legs aren’t too bad although my left calf started to feel like it was getting tight and the very beginning of blood pooling in my leg. I hope I can get running consistently again to get up to 3k and then 5k.

I started playing Hearthstone, I didn’t realize it was available for OS X the whole time. It is pretty fun, hopefully I can play it on the bus during my ride in.

4 days since last run

So far my record leaves something to be desired this year but I did go out and run. To be honest I wasn’t able to run the last couple of days due to my left calf feeling strained.  In the morning it always feels extra tense to the point that I limp a little, feels like there is a giant lump under my skin in the muscle.  My run seemed better today, at least at first.  I ran 1.8 km before having to take a walking break. Sadly though afterwards I took quite a few walking breaks over the last 1.2 km I ran today. Looking at the speedmap half of the last 1.2km looks like I walked it. My fastest time was during my first km at just under 7 minutes, my last km was done in 8 minutes 30 seconds, sadly my running isn’t very quick. Lung wise I seem to be a lot better even though it was colder today, it was more my calves and foot muscles bothering me today. By the end my left calf was getting really bothersome and I was worried about reaggravating whatever happened to it before. My feet also were just generally soar feeling, I think the muscles were tired so hopefully I can build the strength back into them by just continuing to run. I’m glad the cold didn’t stop me, I couldn’t find my workout pants or sweater so I had to rely on my windbreaker to keep me warm and hope that my legs wouldn’t feel too cold.  They did feel awfully cold at first and took a while for them to warm up a bit to the point where I could ignore it.

On Tuesday I went to Guelph to watch the Storm and the Rangers play. I thought just the admin office was in the mall in guelph, I didn’t realize the whole building was accessible, I walked the long way around the building from where I parked in some very cold wind that gave my lips windburn, only to walk down a hallway when I was in the arena to discover it just spits you out into the mall and you just enter through the second floor. Compared to Kitchener the arena is a lot smaller however it had a lot more kids at the game who were enjoying it.  The Rangers games in the Aud seem to have a lot of season ticket holders who have been there for 15+ years so they aren’t really loud anymore.

Attempt two for twenty fifteen

Shortness of breath, blisters on my heel, weeziness in my lungs, muscle pain in my foot, calf feeling strained. It’s just like I started running again. I am out of shape, and need to work on my lung capacity. Hopefully that will improve naturally as it warms up, it is hard breathing in nothing but cold air. I hope I don’t get sick from the weeziness afterwards. It feels like there is fluid in my lungs.

I am running with my Nike dualmax shoes, they have no air pad, but they so far don’t seem to be doing the trick. My knees ate feeling stiff and my ankles like they can feel every time I hit the ground. I almost got another pair of Pegasus but I returned them the next day. I don’t want to drop $70 on a pair of shoes that might last me 15 runs if I am lucky. I did get a return authorization for my broken pair, I need to send them back. Hopefully it isn’t too costly to do so.

I ran 3k today, more like ran and walked, the last km took me 8 minutes to do. My first km is still as slow as ever, it took me 7.15 to do. If I want to get involved in any sort of race this year I need to get faster. First though I need to be able to run 5k again without stopping. Looking at my history is sad since I ran 10k just before I stopped, if only I did something to try and maintain that our even 5k. I have put on all my weight again and feel back into bad habits that are somewhat easy to avoid like drinking pop.

I ran for the first time last week. It was a bad run, I was expecting to be able to do 3k easy and take a couple of breaks to get to 5k. I was putting everything I had into 2.5k and that included a lot of walking. I don’t think I even was able to continuously run out of the neighborhood. So far I haven’t put C25K back on my phone but I did think about it. Not sure if I need structure interval training to get me back to 5k or if I just need to get out and run. I guess I’ll see. My knees feel so warm, I hope I don’t need to get new shoes already but it will get me to mail my broken shoes back.

getting back into a routine

I went for a run again, did 4k and about 1k walking, 2 days ago it was about 4.5k running and .5k walking.  I only started to feel the burn in my thighs the next morning and than much more so today.  I was still stretching it out before I went out.  On the bright side it wasn’t windy, the other day it was very windy and it felt like it was instantly drying out my throat and giving me asthma, this time it went a lot better.  Still on the dry side since I forgot to put a scarf on to keep some moisture in when I go to breathe in.

I feel like going camping, it’s a bit early to worry about that but being around nothing and just relaxing seems like it would be good.

Its been a little over 5 weeks

fooook. I was sick for a couple of weeks and than lazy for a couple more. The cold air in my lungs I fear is making it feel liquidy. I hope I don’t get sick from it. On the bright side my legs felt fine and my lung capacity hasn’t seemed to diminish too much.
On my run I saw a squirrel on the sidewalk that look like it was electrocuted and fell from the pole.

not an easy or good 5k

Its been about 6 days since I last went out. Last time it felt a little rough, especially the next day so I thought I needed to recover from the 10k from the previous run. Today felt ok for the most part, the nagging pain in my leg was back so I walked for a bit to help relieve it, not sure how much it helped, I can still feel some spasms from it in my leg. Hopefully my run on Wednesday will be better. I have run for the cure on Sunday, the team I’m on raised over $1200 which is amazing since we just got together Wednesday or so.

short run

Just ran 5k today, walked for a few parts of it, my calf was feeling a little tight and my knee was a little soar, my legs were still hurting from the 10k before so I guess it’s not too surprising.  I started to use the nike 10k trainer coach, it is a good idea but implemented kind of poorly.  It wanted me to walk a bit to warm up and than do farklets for a while but it gives no audio cues of when to do any of that which is funny since it tells you how long to walk before switching to a run.  I also tried using the music player through the app, it seems to only have the ability to shuffle songs, it didn’t want to skip forward to the next song either.

I’m going to try it for this week I guess, it wants me to run for two days, cross train and than run for two days, I’ll see how it goes I guess.

10k done

Oh my god, it was hell to finish that last km.  It didn’t take much longer than the 4 km before that, or really all 10 km but I felt like I was forcing my body to run and that it just didn’t really have the energy to keep on going.  Heh after 5 km I average 8 minutes a km, before that it seems to range from 7-7.45 a km.  I seem to be coughing and breathing more mucus than usual, not sure if it is from the colder weather, being somewhat sick or drinking more milk.  There was one point where it seemed so thick in my mouth and roof of my mouth that I just needed to spit it out but was having trouble getting enough regular saliva to do that.  Gross I know.  So yay 10k, not sure what I will do now or where I will go for now, I know I want to run faster and running farther doesn’t seem to be helping with that much at all.  Oh and I am a sweaty mess, my hat is covered in sweat, I didn’t realize until afterwards, it is pretty gross looking, it almost looks like I was beginning to saturate the bill of the hat too.

My phone is working again, yay, well not really my phone, somehow through all of this I ended up with my wife’s phone and she has the ghetto phone still since the one battery was DOA, so much for a quick fix.  We did get to play D&D yesterday and it was super fun, I started to second guess myself since I didn’t know how to get into a trading guild/company in order to get them to stop slavery, more political intriguing than dungoen delving I guess.

9k or oh my god my legs

My phone is all borked so I couldn’t keep track with my app but according to googlemaps I ran 9k today, woot woot, not bad for estimating. My legs haven’t felt this soar in quite a while. Usually a little bit after I am thinking I could have gone on a little bit longer but not this time. I am soar getting up, moving around, even my shower didn’t help too much although I didn’t turn up the heat and aim it at my legs. My pace seemed to be a little quicker at. 7.30 throughout. I still need to speed up but hopefully it is coming, just more gradual than I would like.

Ugly run

I decided to try to work on my speed so I ran up a road that is somewhat steep, god it was tiring my legs were burning but I guess that is good, after that for my last 1 k I was running off and on.  I was thinking of just running normally especially since I thought I might be able to do another 7 or 8k but decided against it since I left the house so late, in reality the difference might have been 20 minutes which isn’t that big of a deal but I needed to run faster.  It will probably be my biggest struggle is to gain speed meanwhile other people I see are posting times like 22k in 2 hours, shittttttt, and she seems to run 4 or 5 times a week.

Stella went to the vet today, she has stones and is apparently causing leakage out of her and has given her vulva an infection, so gross.  Now we have to wipe at her everyday and spray her three times a day.
